Religious Retirement Communities in Dallas

Religious Retirement Communities in Dallas

Dallas, even among Texas cities, does things big, and that includes religion. The city is home to the world’s biggest LGBT Christian congregation and to Texas’ largest Jewish community, the 2nd biggest Catholic congregation in America, and a strong Baptist and Methodist influence. With more than 80 mostly Protestant prison outreach groups based in the city, Dallas has earned the title of “Prison Ministry Capital of the World.” There is no shortage of ways to express faith and find a spiritual community in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Faith-based assisted living communities in Dallas

Seniors who want to immerse themselves in a religious environment will find options across the Metroplex, especially in the suburbs. The Catholic senior community of Christus St. Joseph Village is located in Coppell, just northwest of Dallas. Christus is open to all seniors and offers independent and assisted living, social and wellness programs, and religious services including daily Mass.

Christian Care Senior Living, on Dallas’ eastern edge in Mesquite, provides certified continuing care in a faith-based setting. Seniors there can choose the living arrangement that best suits their needs, whether that’s a cottage, apartment, or assisted-living setting. With Alzheimer’s care and an on-site skilled nursing facility, Christian Care helps seniors maintain continuity in their surroundings.

The onsite Church of Christ congregation is open to everyone and holds services on Sunday and Wednesday. The church participates in a number of volunteer efforts, including a prison ministry, and helps support several children’s homes.

Diverse religious offerings in the Dallas metro area

Just northwest of Dallas proper is Plano, a big town in its own right that consistently tops lists of the best places to live. Plano has many assisted living communities that offer the quiet life along with convenience to Dallas. Religious life in Plano mirrors the diversity of Dallas, making it easy to find a spiritual community near most senior communities in Plano.

A good example is Emeritus at Spring Creek Gardens in Plano. It’s next door to Conservative Jewish Congregation Nishmat Am and a short drive from the Reform Adat Chaverim congregation. Two LDS churches are within 2 miles of the senior community, along with Catholic, Church of Christ, Lutheran, Methodist, and Baptist congregations. There are several Hindu temples and a Unitarian Universalist church nearby, and Emeritus at Spring Creek is also convenient to the Islamic Center of Collin County and the East Plano Islamic Center.

Lots of reasons to celebrate in Dallas

Holidays and cultural events are a big deal in Dallas, and there are many to choose from. The Dallas Arboretum this December kicks off a new “12 Days of Christmas” event featuring lavishly decorated holiday gazebos. Every autumn, the Jewish Film Festival of Dallas brings new works from around the world to Metroplex audiences. And to mark the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid al-Fatr each year, the Islamic Association of North Texas sponsors a celebration that draws thousands of families to Fair Park.

Whatever the faith, there are plenty of ways to express it in Dallas, and many communities ready to help religious seniors find the faith-based Dallas assisted living arrangements they’re looking for.
