Places to Visit in 2015

Travelling keeps us fresh, gives us new insights, and exposes us to new food, different cultures and lifestyles. Here are some controversial (and not so controversial) places to visit in 2015:

1. Cuba

Let’s start with something closer to home, Cuba. This island nation is now hotter than ever with President Obama ushering in sweeping policy changes in US-Cuba relations. Americans have been intrigued with Cuba for many decades now. You could go there in 2015 as travel restrictions are being reduced. Visit world heritage sites, see how they make cigars, meet a jazz musician, and see those beautiful coral reefs. In fact, 200 cruise ships are expected to drop their anchors in a year.

2. Myanmar, Mergui Archipelago

This would be another learning vacation and it’s a spectacular one too. The country has opened up, and it’s the right time to visit the Mergui Archipelago. This could be something like a fantasy holiday. There are 800 islands spread across turquoise blue waters of the Andaman Sea, and most of them are virtually unexplored. There are dense jungles with long-tailed macaques and monitor lizards, white-sandy beaches, mysterious tribes of sea gypsies, and a lot more. Mergui is as stunning as some of the more popular resorts of Thailand. But here, you will find them most pristine, how it was all supposed to be. This is among those last few paradises left.

3. Greece

Adults love cruise vacations for good reasons. Simply relax on the deck and take a bit of the sun as you see the ship moving through stunning waters. There is plenty to do on board if you are feeling like it. But the main attractions are of course in the islands. These are stunning islands with a lot of history. The food, sights and sounds – everything is worth it. Greece could be the perfect destination for 2015. It can be an affordable trip too as the country is still recovering from its economic plight.

4. Oman

Consider this exotic location in the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula for 2015. Just a hop away from Dubai, you’ll feel like its right from the pages of The Arabian Nights. Muscat is an ancient graceful city where women wear jeweled gowns and the men are draped in white robes. There are odd rock formations everywhere. Head to Nizwa, one of the largest cities in Oman, where you can to this day see the Bedouins herding their goats. The country is still run by a sultan. Traditions and cultures are all authentic. It stands in stark contrast to flashy Dubai and what most westerners are used to seeing in the Arabian Peninsula.

5. Walt Disney World

Okay, so this one is definitely not controversial (unless you hate Mickey Mouse). Sometimes the best vacations are those with the entire family. There’s nothing quite like visiting Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida. It truly has something for everyone to enjoy and is located close to the powdery white sand beaches. There are wheelchair, stroller and locker rentals. First aid is available for emergencies. Some cool new attractions are coming up in 2015 like the expanded New Fantasyland, Dr. Phillips Center, Orlando Eye, and the Polynesian Village Resort.
